Providence Medical Center and Saint John Hospital have named Charlie Soeken as Director of Information Technology. In his new role, Soeken is responsible for all IT functions at Providence and Saint John including hardware, software, networking and pagers.
He originally was hired to work at the Help Desk of the SCL Health system in 2007. His other past roles have included lead PC technician and IT Site operations manager.
"The IT team is a much stronger unit than any one person individually," Soeken said. "We strive to work as a team to resolve issues and assist our internal customers."
Soeken attended the University of Kansas and has also attended various technical schools as well. He has certifications for C++ programming, Java, HTML, SQL, and A+ and proficiency with all Microsoft products as well as other systems for imaging and backups.
A fan of the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks, and a really big fan of the Detroit Red Wings Hockey team, Soeken says he has been heavily involved in sports his entire life. He added, "The teamwork aspect of sports is something I like to bring to the workplace and embrace with our IT team."
Soeken volunteers for the Kansas City Sports Commission for the Big 12 Conference events and has been involved with that organization since 1994. He has enjoyed serving in his most current role as the host for the pep rallies on the Power and Light Stage for the Big 12 Basketball tournament when it comes to town. He has also moonlighted as the PA voice at Kansas City T-Bones games.
