The Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories at Providence Medical Center provides prompt, accurate and reliable pathology and clinical laboratory services on an inpatient and outpatient basis to assist physicians with their diagnosis and treatment of patients. The laboratory is a full service inpatient department open 24 hours a day and capable of handling STAT or emergency outpatient services as needed.
We are accredited and licensed by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals JCAHO) and the HCFA-Clinical Laboratory Improvement Program (CLIA)
The Pathology department provides laboratory services to inpatients, outpatients and hospital personnel. The department also participates in the total hospital program of patient care, medical education and community health programs.
The Providence Laboratory department is located on the first floor of the hospital. Clinical laboratory services are provided in the fields of hematology, chemistry, blood bank, microbiology, clinical microscopy and seroimmunology.
Hours of Service
During evening and night hours it is necessary to perform examinations on a priority basis only.
Regular outpatient hours: All laboratory sections shall be open for routine outpatient services from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
Weekend, holiday and Off-hour outpatient services: by appointment only. It is necessary to limit the examinations performed to emergency request only.
Phlebotomy service (when blood or other specimen needs to be collected for laboratory test) is available at the following locations:

Completed test reports will be delivered by courier service, faxed or mailed. STATs and critical values will be phoned to the ordering physician and/or designated caregiver.
