The Saint John Behavioral Health Center in Leavenworth helps patients with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other complexities, with psychiatrist-supervised inpatient treatment and 24/7 access to hospital services, including emergency care at Saint John Hospital.

The Center provides specialized psychiatric care to seniors. We focus on meeting the unique psychological needs of older adults who are plagued with psychiatric, conditions, such as depression, anxiety, grief reactions, complications of memory impairment or confusion or thoughts of suicide. Services are for adults age 55 and older.

Our staff of nurses, psychiatrists, social workers, activity and rehabilitation therapists can help with all aspects of a person's life.

Our expertise is sought after in the community. Our psychiatrists provide outpatient services in over 20 area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We also train staff at local facilities throughout the area to recognize signs and symptoms of mental illness in older adults.

Saint John Senior Behavioral Health also offers:

Depression and other emotional illnesses are a significant problem for older adults. Statistics show that one out of four older adults suffer from serious emotional difficulties related to aging.

Most emotional illnesses in older people are treatable, especially if dealt with early. Therapy can help individuals take better care of themselves, brighten their outlook on life and be more diligent about following their doctor's orders and taking their medicines.
