Protecting your Valuables
Please observe these guidelines during your time with us at Providence.
Security officers watch the medical center and its parking areas for your
safety. You may park in any of the non-reserved areas. Security can be
reached by calling ext. 0 from within the center.
Providence promotes an active safety program for your protection. Occasionally,
fire drills will be sounded. Do not be alarmed. Follow the nurses' instructions
during these drills.
Check with your nurse regarding the use of cellular phones. They may be
used in some areas of the Medical Center, but not in others.
Some personal electrical items are allowed in the Medical Center such as
hair dryers or razors. Before you use any of these items, please have
your nurse check with plant operations on the safety of your items.
Please do not get in or out of a wheelchair by yourself. Nursing staff
will be glad to help.
Side rails will be used on your bed for protection, if ordered by your
doctor. Please do not try to climb over the rails to get out of bed. Feel
free to call for help.
The nurse call system lets you talk with the nurses at their desk. Simply
press the call button, and the nurse will call you back.
All hospital staff and volunteers wear name badges.
Please bring only the items you need for your stay at the Providence. We
encourage you not to bring your checkbook, any money, credit cards, jewelry
or other valuables with you. There will be times when you will need to
leave your room for tests or surgery. Providence cannot be responsible
for articles or money lost or stolen on the premises.
You may either send your valuables and money home with relatives or deposit
them with security for safekeeping. You will be given a receipt for your
valuables and may reclaim them when you are sent home. You may also withdraw
any or all of these items during your hospital stay.
